Export issues to Excel

An Excel export turns a selection of issues into a spreadsheet you can sort, filter and pivot. Choose it when the recipient works in spreadsheets rather than in a BIM tool. If they need to open the issues in a BIM tool and act on them, export BCF instead. If they only need to read them, export PDF.

To export, select the issues you want on the Issues page and click Export Excel. For the rest of what that page does, see Issues page article.

What you get

Each issue becomes one row, and every field gets its own column:

Issue Nr, Date, Created by, Title, Status, Main image, Location (the floor plan marking where the issue sits), Building, Floor, Disciplines, Categories, Issue description, Session, Attached Scan name, Attached BIM elements, Tags, and one column for each additional image.

Unlike BCF, these additional fields are not placed in the description field, so you can filter by Building or count by Status without tidying the sheet up first.

Images

Include images in the report is on by default, with an Images resolution dropdown set to Auto (recommended).

Turning the checkbox off drops the image columns and leaves the data. Do that when the spreadsheet is feeding a pivot table or a tracker with no room for pictures, or when the file needs to be small enough to email.

💡 Exporting a large selection takes a while. A progress popup shows how far it has got. Keep the page open and do not refresh it until the .xlsx file arrives.
